How to use this tool
Find your exact age, or anyone’s, from a date of birth. The calculator counts full years, then months, then days, the same way people usually state their age, and adds totals in months, weeks and days plus a countdown to the next birthday. Pick an end date to find the age on a past or future day, such as an application deadline.
- 01
Enter the date of birth
Pick the birth date in the date field. Any date in the past works.
- 02
Choose an end date if needed
Leave Age on empty to calculate age today, or pick another date to find the age on that day.
- 03
Read the age
See years, months and days, the totals in months, weeks and days, and the days until the next birthday. Copy the result if you need it.
How age is counted
The calculator counts whole years first, then whole months, then the days left over. Each month is counted from the birth date, and when a shorter month has no matching day (such as the 31st), that month is completed on its last day. This matches how age is stated in most countries: you turn one year older on your birthday.
Leap year birthdays
People born on 29 February celebrate a calendar birthday in leap years. In other years the calculator counts the birthday on 1 March, the convention in many places, including legal age in the UK. On 28 February 2025, someone born on 29 February 2000 is 24 years, 11 months and 30 days old, and turns 25 the next day. For official purposes, local rules set the date.
Total days, weeks and months
Total days is the exact number of calendar days between the two dates, ignoring time of day and daylight saving changes. Total weeks is that number divided by seven and rounded down, and total months is years × 12 plus the extra months.
Other ways to count age
Some cultures traditionally counted age differently. In the East Asian age system, a baby was one year old at birth and everyone added a year at the new year. South Korea adopted the international system for official use in 2023. This calculator uses the international method.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my age?
Enter your date of birth. The calculator counts full years, months and days up to today, or up to the end date you choose.
How do I calculate age on a specific date?
Pick that date in Age on. This is useful for eligibility cut-offs, contests or application deadlines.
How many days old am I?
Check the Total days figure. It counts every calendar day between your birth date and the end date.
How is a 29 February birthday handled?
In common years the birthday is counted on 1 March, both for the next-birthday countdown and for completing a full year. Total days are counted from the real dates.
How are months of different lengths handled?
Months are counted from the birth date. When a shorter month has no matching day, that month is completed on its last day, so someone born on 31 January 2000 is 25 years, 1 month and 1 day old on 1 March 2025.
Does the time of birth matter?
No. Age is counted in whole days, so the time of day isn’t used.
Can I calculate the age of a pet, a company or an account?
Yes. Enter any start date, such as an adoption date, founding date or the day you joined a platform.
How many days until my birthday?
Days to next birthday counts down from the end date. It shows 0 when the end date is your birthday.
Is my date of birth stored?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and the date isn’t sent to SocQ or saved.
Is the age calculator free?
Yes. It’s free with no signup and no limit.
