How to use this tool

Pasted a caption that arrived in all caps, or need a headline in proper title case? Type or paste once and the converter shows ten versions side by side, from UPPERCASE and Sentence case to camelCase and kebab-case for file names and URLs. Copy the one you need; the rest stay ready if you change your mind.

  1. 01

    Paste your text

Add any text, from a single headline to several paragraphs. Line breaks and punctuation are kept.

  2. 02

    Compare the styles

Ten case styles update as you type, including Title Case, Sentence case, alternating case and code-style formats.

  3. 03

    Copy one style

Press Copy on the row you want and paste it into your post, document, spreadsheet or code editor.

The ten case styles

• UPPERCASE and lowercase change every letter. • Sentence case capitalizes the first letter of each sentence. • Title Case capitalizes major words and keeps short words like “and”, “of” and “the” lowercase unless they start or end the title. • Capitalized Case capitalizes every word. • aLtErNaTiNg and iNVERSE case are popular for playful or sarcastic posts. • camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case remove spaces for code, file names and URLs.

Title case rules

Style guides such as AP, Chicago and APA disagree on a few words, especially prepositions of four or more letters. This converter follows a common middle ground: it lowercases articles, short conjunctions and short prepositions (a, an, the, and, but, or, nor, for, as, at, by, in, of, on, per, to, via, vs) except at the start or end, and capitalizes longer words such as “with” and “from”. Check your house style for edge cases.

Check names, brands and acronyms

Each case style applies one rule to every word, so give proper nouns a quick look after converting. Lowercase and Sentence case turn words such as Friday, NASA and SocQ into lowercase, and Title Case and Capitalized Case keep only the first letter of each word in capitals, so “iPhone” becomes “Iphone”. A few seconds of review keeps brand names exact.

Why all caps hurts readability

Text in all capitals is slower to read because words lose their distinctive shapes, and many readers perceive it as shouting. Screen readers may also read short all-caps words letter by letter. Use capitals for a word or two of emphasis rather than whole sentences.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert uppercase to lowercase?

Paste the text and copy the lowercase row. Every letter is changed to lowercase while numbers, punctuation and line breaks stay as they are.

What is sentence case?

Sentence case capitalizes only the first letter of each sentence, like normal writing. The converter also capitalizes the pronoun “I”.

What is title case?

Title case capitalizes the main words of a headline. Short articles, conjunctions and prepositions stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word.

What is the difference between Title Case and Capitalized Case?

Capitalized Case capitalizes every word, including “and” and “of”. Title Case keeps those short words lowercase in the middle of a title.

What are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case?

They are naming styles without spaces. camelCase joins words and capitalizes each after the first, snake_case joins lowercase words with underscores, and kebab-case joins them with hyphens, which is common in URLs.

Does it work with accented letters and other languages?

Yes. Letters with accents and alphabets such as Greek and Cyrillic change case correctly, and Chinese and other scripts without case stay as typed, so mixed-language text converts cleanly.

Will it keep my line breaks?

Yes. Line breaks, spacing and punctuation are kept in every style except camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case, which join words together.

How do I write alternating case text?

Copy the aLtErNaTiNg row. The converter switches between lowercase and uppercase on each letter and skips spaces and punctuation.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Conversions happen in your browser, and the text isn’t sent to SocQ or saved.

Is the case converter free?

Yes. It’s free with no signup and no limit on how much text you convert.
