How to use this tool

MOV vs MP4

Both are containers that hold video and audio. MOV was created by Apple for QuickTime; MP4 is the international standard based on it. iPhone MOV files often use HEVC (H.265) video, which older Windows PCs and many web tools struggle with. An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is the format phones, PCs, TVs, editors and social platforms accept most widely.

iPhone videos: HEVC and High Efficiency

Since iOS 11, iPhones record in High Efficiency mode by default, saving MOV files with HEVC video. They are small and look great on Apple devices. To record more compatible files in future, choose Most Compatible under Settings > Camera > Formats; for the videos you already have, convert them here. Portrait clips come out upright, and HDR or Dolby Vision clips are saved as standard 8-bit video that every screen shows.

What are the size limits?
