How to use this tool

Background music or a voiceover can turn a plain clip into something ready to post. This tool mixes a second audio file into your video, lets you set the original and added volumes separately, and loops the new track until the video ends. Everything runs in your browser with FFmpeg, so your files stay on your device.

  1. 01

Choose the video and the audio

Click Choose files to pick the main video, then click Choose music or voiceover to add an audio file such as MP3 or WAV, or another video whose sound you want to use.

  2. 02

    Set the two volumes

Enter Original volume (%) for the video’s own sound and Music volume (%) for the added file. 100% keeps a track unchanged, 0% mutes it, and values up to 400% make it louder.

  3. 03

    Create and download the MP4

Click Create file, wait for the progress bar to finish, play the result and click Download to save video-with-music.mp4.

When to add audio to a video

• Put background music under a product demo or vlog • Add a voiceover you recorded separately on your phone • Replace a noisy original track by setting Original volume to 0% • Give a silent screen recording a soundtrack

Volume settings explained

• Original volume (%): level of the video’s own sound, 0–400% • Music volume (%): level of the added file, 0–400% • 100% leaves a track unchanged; 0% mutes it • A limiter keeps loud peaks from clipping after the mix • If the video has no sound, only the added track is used

Tips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts

• Keep music around 20–40% when someone speaks on camera • Listen on a phone speaker before posting • Use music you have the rights to; platforms can mute videos with unlicensed tracks • Trending sounds from the TikTok or Instagram libraries have to be added inside those apps

Formats and limits

• Video: MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI and other common formats • Added audio: MP3, WAV, M4A and other audio files, or a video with sound • Up to 100 MB per file, 200 MB combined and 10 minutes long • Output: MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio) the same length as the main video • The added track starts at 0:00 and repeats if it’s shorter; there’s no offset or fade control • Speed depends on your device; the first run downloads the video engine once

Frequently asked questions

What is an add audio to video tool?

It’s a tool that combines a video with a separate sound file such as music, a voiceover or sound effects. This one mixes the new track with the video’s own sound at the volumes you choose and exports a single MP4, all inside your browser.

How do I add audio to a video online for free?

1. Click Choose files and pick your video. 2. Click Choose music or voiceover and pick the audio file. 3. Set Original volume (%) and Music volume (%). 4. Click Create file, then click Download.

Can I keep the original sound and add background music?

Yes. Both tracks are mixed, so leave Original volume above 0% and set Music volume lower, often 20–40% under speech. Set Original volume to 0% if you want the added file to replace the video’s sound completely.

What happens if the music is shorter or longer than the video?

The finished MP4 always matches the main video’s length. A shorter track loops from the start until the video ends, and a longer one is cut off when the video ends. There’s no fade-out, so the music may stop abruptly.

Can I choose where the music starts?

No. The added track always starts at 0:00 of the video. To bring the music in later or use one part of a song, trim the audio file first and then add it here.

Is it free, and is there a watermark?

Yes, it’s free and you don’t need an account. SocQ adds no watermark or logo to the exported video; the only change is the audio mix you set.

Are my video and audio files uploaded?

No. The mixing runs with FFmpeg compiled for the browser, so your files are read and processed on your device and aren’t sent to SocQ’s servers. Your browser fetches the video engine on the first run and reuses the cached copy afterward.

What formats and file sizes are supported?

You can use common video files such as MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV and AVI, plus audio files like MP3, WAV and M4A. Each file can be up to 100 MB, both files together up to 200 MB, and the video up to 10 minutes. The result is an H.264 MP4 with AAC audio.

Can I add audio to a video on my phone?

Yes. The tool works in current mobile browsers on iPhone and Android, and you can pick files from your photo library or Files app. Processing happens on the phone itself, so it’s slower than on a computer; keep the tab open until the download appears.

Can I add a song from TikTok, Spotify or YouTube?

The tool only mixes files already on your device; it has no music library and can’t pull audio from links. Use music you own or have a license for, because platforms may mute or remove videos with unlicensed songs.

See how your finished videos land publicly

After you post, SocQ APIs can collect public videos, posts and comments from TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube and LinkedIn, so you can compare public reactions to each version. They read public data only, not private account analytics.
