How to use this tool

A photo often needs a few words before it’s ready to post: a product name, a quote or a sale line. This tool writes one bold headline onto your photo at the position and color you choose, wraps it to fit and keeps the original resolution. It’s built for creators and small shops who want quick text overlays without opening a design app.

  1. 01

Upload a photo and type your headline

Click Choose files to pick a JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF photo, then type your words in the Headline field. Select up to 20 photos to put the same line on each.

  2. 02

    Set size, color and position

Maximum text size is in pixels, and the horizontal and vertical positions set the top-left corner of the text as a percentage of the photo. Pick a text color that stands out against that spot.

  3. 03

Check the result and download the image

The text appears on the result as you type and updates with each setting change; then use Download, or Download ZIP for several photos.

When adding text to a photo helps

• Product names or prices on shop photos • A quote or tip on a carousel slide • A title on a blog, Pinterest or YouTube community image • Event dates and places on a flyer-style photo

How the text settings work

• Headline: the words to place; long text wraps automatically • Maximum text size (px): the largest size allowed; it shrinks only when the text would not fit • Horizontal / vertical position (%): where the top-left corner of the text starts • Text color: any color from the picker; the font is a bold sans-serif (Arial or your system’s fallback)

Tips for readable text on social posts

• Place text over a calm, plain part of the photo • Use light text on dark areas and dark text on light areas • Keep it to a few words so it reads on a phone screen • Leave a margin from the edges, since some apps crop previews

Frequently asked questions

What is an add text to photo tool?

It’s an editor that places words on top of an image and saves the result as a new picture. This one renders a single bold headline onto your photo in your browser and exports it at the photo’s original width and height (JPG stays JPG, other formats save as PNG).

How do I add text to a photo online for free?

1. Click Choose files and pick your photo. 2. Type your words in the Headline field. 3. Set the maximum text size, the position and the text color. 4. Check the live result, then click Download to save the image.

Is it really free, and is there a watermark?

Yes, it’s free and there’s no account or signup. The downloaded image contains only your photo and your text; SocQ adds no logo or watermark.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The photo is decoded and drawn on a canvas inside your browser, and the result is created on your device. It isn’t sent to SocQ for processing, so private or unreleased images stay with you.

Which file formats and sizes are supported?

You can open JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF images up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels each. A JPG is saved as a JPG at 90% quality and other formats as PNG, always at the same width and height; PNG results get no extra lossy compression.

Can I change the font or add an outline or shadow?

Not in this tool. Text is drawn in a bold sans-serif (Arial, or your system’s fallback font) in one solid color, with no outline, shadow or background box. For contrast, place it over a darker or lighter area of the photo.

Why did my text come out smaller than the size I set?

The size you enter is a maximum. Text wraps between its starting point and the right edge, and if the wrapped lines would pass the bottom edge, the size drops step by step. Move the text higher or shorten it to keep it large; if even 8 px won’t fit, you’ll be asked for shorter text.

How do I place text in the center or at the bottom?

Positions mark the top-left corner of the text block as a percentage of the photo, so 0% / 0% is the top-left corner. A vertical value around 75–80% puts a short line near the bottom. There’s no automatic centering, so try a horizontal value like 10% and adjust after previewing.

Can I add the same text to several photos at once?

Yes. Select up to 20 photos and the same headline and settings are applied to each one. Because positions are percentages, the text lands in a similar spot on different sizes, and Download ZIP saves every result in one archive.

Can I write in Chinese or other languages?

Yes, as long as your device has a font for that script. Languages without spaces, such as Chinese or Japanese, wrap character by character, while English and similar languages wrap between words.

Pair your photo posts with public social data

After the photo is live, SocQ APIs can pull public posts, profiles and comments from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn, so you can see how text-on-image posts are received publicly.
