How to use this tool
To crop an image, add it, drag a box over the part you want to keep, and download: the crop is saved at full resolution. Pick a fixed ratio to fit each platform, 1:1 for profile pictures, 4:5 for Instagram feed posts, 16:9 for YouTube and 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, or switch to Circle for round avatars. Cropping runs in your browser, free and without a watermark.
- 01
Add a photo
Click Choose files or drop an image (JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF) up to 30 MB. The crop box appears on the photo, with the area outside it dimmed.
- 02
Choose ratio and shape
Pick Free or a fixed Aspect ratio, then Rectangle or Circle. Drag on the photo to place the box, or type Left, Top, Width and Height as percentages.
- 03
Download the crop
The result shows below with its pixel size; click Download. Rectangle crops of JPG photos are saved as JPG, everything else as PNG, and circles get transparent corners.
Which ratio to use
• 1:1: profile pictures, Instagram square posts, marketplaces • 4:5: Instagram and Facebook portrait feed posts • 16:9: YouTube thumbnails, banners and slides • 9:16: TikTok, Instagram Stories and Reels, YouTube Shorts • 4:3 and 3:2: classic camera and print formats
Circle crops
Choose Circle to keep the round area inside the box, with transparent corners in the PNG. With the 1:1 ratio you get a perfect circle, ideal for avatars, team photos and logos; other ratios give an oval.
Full-resolution output
The crop uses the original pixels, so a crop from a 4000-pixel photo stays sharp. To hit an exact pixel size such as 1080 × 1350 or 1080 × 1920, run the crop through SocQ’s Social Media Image Resizer.
Frequently asked questions
How do I crop an image?
1. Click Choose files and add your image. 2. Drag a box on the photo, or choose an aspect ratio. 3. Click Download to save the crop.
How do I crop an image into a circle?
Set Shape to Circle and Aspect ratio to 1:1, then drag the box over the face or logo. The result is a PNG with a round crop and transparent corners.
How do I crop a photo to a square?
Choose 1:1. The box keeps its square shape while you drag, and it’s centred when you first pick the ratio.
What size should I crop for Instagram, TikTok or YouTube?
Use 1:1 or 4:5 for Instagram feed posts, 9:16 for TikTok, Reels, Stories and Shorts, and 16:9 for YouTube thumbnails.
Can I type exact values?
Yes. Left, Top, Width and Height are percentages of the photo. With a fixed ratio, the height follows the width.
Does cropping keep the original quality?
Yes. The crop keeps the original pixels at full resolution, and JPG photos are saved at high quality.
Can I crop on my phone?
Yes. Drag with your finger on the photo; the page stays in place while you move the box.
Can I crop several images the same way?
Yes. Add up to 20 images and each gets the same box, measured in percentages of the image. It works best with photos of the same size.
How do I put a circle crop on a white background?
Open the PNG in SocQ’s PNG to JPG converter and pick a background color; it fills the transparent corners.
Is the image cropper free?
Yes. No signup, no watermark and no limit, and your photos stay on your device.
