How to use this tool
A sideways phone photo, an upside-down scan or a slightly tilted product shot is easy to fix when you can enter the exact angle. This rotate image tool turns up to 20 images by the degrees you type and enlarges the canvas so the whole picture stays visible. It’s for creators, sellers and anyone preparing images for posts, listings or slides.
- 01
Choose your images
Click Choose files or drag in up to 20 JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF images, each up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels.
- 02
Enter the rotation angle
Type a number in Rotation (degrees). Positive values turn the image clockwise and negative values turn it counterclockwise, so 90 is a quarter turn right and -90 a quarter turn left. Decimals such as 2.5 work too.
- 03
Check the result and download
The result updates as you change the angle. Check the new dimensions under each result, then click Download or Download ZIP for the batch.
Common rotation angles
• 90: a quarter turn clockwise, so landscape becomes portrait • -90 or 270: a quarter turn counterclockwise • 180: turns an upside-down photo right side up • 1–5: straightens a slightly tilted horizon or product shot • Any value works, including decimals and angles above 360
How the canvas and corners work
The output canvas grows so no part of the image is cut off. • At 90, 180 and 270 the photo fills the frame exactly, and width and height swap at 90 and 270 • At other angles, the empty corners are transparent • The result is always a PNG, which keeps those transparent corners • To remove the corners, crop the PNG afterward in your editor
Batch rotation and limits
• Up to 20 images per batch, all turned by the same angle • Each file up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels, including the larger rotated canvas • PNG files are often bigger than the JPG you started with • EXIF data isn’t copied, so the saved orientation is exactly what you see in the preview
Frequently asked questions
What is a rotate image tool?
A rotate image tool turns a picture by a set number of degrees and saves the result as a new file. SocQ’s tool rotates up to 20 images in your browser by any angle you enter and enlarges the canvas so nothing gets cropped.
How do I rotate an image online?
1. Click Choose files and select your images. 2. Enter an angle in Rotation (degrees), such as 90 or -90. 3. Check the live result. 4. Click Download, or Download ZIP for several files.
Which way does the image rotate?
Positive numbers rotate clockwise and negative numbers rotate counterclockwise. For example, 90 turns the top of the image to the right, while -90 turns it to the left. 180 turns it upside down either way.
Will the rotation crop the image?
No. The canvas expands to fit the whole rotated image. At 90 or 270 degrees the width and height simply swap, while other angles add transparent space in the corners.
Can I rotate by a custom angle like 45 or 2.5 degrees?
Yes. Rotation (degrees) accepts any number, including decimals. Small angles such as 1–3 degrees help straighten a tilted horizon, though the corners become transparent and may need cropping afterward.
What format is the rotated image saved in?
Every result is saved as a PNG named after the original, such as photo-rotate.png. PNG keeps transparent corners and adds no new compression, but the file can be larger than a JPG. Convert it back to JPG afterward if you need a smaller file.
Can I rotate many images at once?
Yes. Add up to 20 images in one batch, and all of them turn by the same angle. Download ZIP saves the whole set in one archive.
Are my images uploaded when I rotate them?
No. The rotation happens in your browser on your own device, and the images aren’t sent to SocQ’s servers. Clear the tool or close the tab to discard the results.
Is the rotate image tool free?
Yes. It’s free without an account, and the rotated images carry no watermark. You can process as many batches as you need, up to 20 images each.
What’s the difference between rotating and flipping an image?
Rotating turns the whole picture around its center, like turning a print on a table. Flipping mirrors it, so any text appears backward. Use SocQ’s Flip Image Tool if you need a mirror image instead.
