The rate updates as you type. Review the complete calculation and copy the result, input totals and formula for your report.

Choose a formula that matches your question

Follower-based engagement compares interactions with account size. Reach-based engagement uses the audience reached; impressions use content displays; video-view engagement uses plays. Choose the same method when comparing posts so the rates describe the same thing.

Keep inputs from the same posts and period

Add the interaction types that matter to your report, using 0 for the others. For several posts, enter total interactions and their average follower count, then set the post count. Reach, impression and view methods use the matching audience totals directly.

Frequently asked questions

What is an engagement rate calculator?

An engagement rate calculator turns interactions and audience counts into a percentage. SocQ calculates by followers, reach, impressions or video views, shows the exact formula and lets you copy the result with the figures used.

How do I calculate engagement rate by followers?

Add the likes, comments, shares and saves you want to include. For one post, divide that total by the follower count and multiply by 100. For several posts, use average followers and divide by the number of posts too. The tool shows this calculation as you type.

Which interactions should I include?

Choose the interactions your report tracks, such as likes, comments, shares and saves. Enter totals for the same posts and period, and keep the other fields at 0. Use the same interaction definition when comparing different results.

How do I calculate the average for several posts?

Choose Followers, enter total interactions across those posts, add the average follower count and set Number of posts. The formula divides total interactions by followers multiplied by posts, then multiplies by 100.

What is the difference between reach, impressions and views?

Reach describes the audience reached, impressions count displays and views count video plays. Choose the figure that matches the question you want to answer, and use audience statistics from the same content as your interactions.

Can an engagement rate be above 100%?

Yes. One person can perform several actions, such as liking, commenting and saving, so interactions can exceed the audience count. Review the calculation and keep your interaction definition consistent when comparing results.

How do I share the calculation in a report?

Use Copy result to include the percentage, interaction total, audience count and formula. This helps readers see which calculation method you used and makes the result easier to compare with other posts or campaigns.
