How to use this tool
Ads Manager shows previews only after you start building an ad in an account, which is a lot of setup for an early concept or a quick client check. This Facebook ad preview tool combines your Page name, primary text, image, headline, display link and call-to-action button in a feed-style ad card labeled “Sponsored”, at desktop or phone width. Use the PNG for creative reviews, client sign-off and comparing copy options.
- 01
Write the ad copy
Enter your Page name, the main message in Primary text and a short Headline. Add the call to action in Button text, such as “Shop now”, and a domain in Display link.
- 02
Add the creative and choose a width
Click Choose files to add one JPG, PNG or WebP ad image. Select Desktop or Phone in Preview size to see the card at 760 px or 420 px wide.
- 03
Expand, check and download
The preview updates as you type. If the primary text is long, it ends in “…”; click Show full post to see all of it, then click Download to save the PNG.
How to write Facebook ad copy that works in the feed
• Lead with the benefit or offer in the first sentence • Keep the headline short and specific, such as the product plus one detail • Match the button to the next step: Shop now for products, Learn more for content, Sign up for lists • Make sure the image, copy and landing page promise the same thing
Facebook ad text lengths to plan for
Meta’s Ads Guide gives recommended lengths rather than strict limits, and they vary by placement. • Primary text: Meta suggests roughly 50–150 characters for Feed, and the feed often hides text behind “See more” after about 125 characters • Headline: about 27 characters is the recommendation for Facebook Feed • Longer copy can still run, but people see less of it before expanding • This tool’s collapsed view cuts at fixed points of about 260 characters on Desktop and 155 on Phone, so check your first 125 characters separately
What this Facebook ad mockup includes
• A “Sponsored” label under the Page name • Your primary text, image and a link box with the headline, display link and button • Desktop and Phone widths It doesn’t reproduce Instagram, Stories, Reels or carousel placements, and the image is cropped to a wide frame rather than the 1:1 or 4:5 ratio most feed ads use. Always check the final preview in Ads Manager before publishing.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Facebook ad preview tool?
A Facebook ad preview tool shows roughly how an ad will look in the feed before you spend on it. SocQ’s version arranges your Page name, primary text, image, headline, display link and button into a feed-style ad card you can download as a PNG.
How do I preview a Facebook ad before publishing?
1. Enter Page name, Primary text and Headline. 2. Add Button text and Display link. 3. Click Choose files to add the ad image, then pick Desktop or Phone. 4. Check the live preview and Download the PNG. 5. Before launch, confirm the live placements in Ads Manager.
How many characters should Facebook ad primary text be?
Meta recommends keeping Feed primary text fairly short, roughly 50–150 characters, and many advertisers aim for about 125 because longer text is often hidden behind “See more”. Put the offer in the first sentence so it shows even when the rest is collapsed.
How long can a Facebook ad headline be?
For Facebook Feed, Meta recommends about 27 characters so the headline displays fully next to the button. Longer headlines may be shortened on some devices. In this mockup the headline shares the link box with the button, so long headlines get squeezed to fit.
Is this an official Facebook ad preview?
No. It’s a SocQ mockup styled after a Facebook feed ad, not output from Meta. Real ads differ in fonts, image ratios, placement and the exact “See more” point. Use it for internal and client reviews, then confirm in Ads Manager.
What does the Display link field do?
It sets the domain shown in the link box under the image, such as example.com. It’s plain text: the tool doesn’t visit or check the URL. Enter the domain people will see when the ad runs.
Which call-to-action buttons can I use?
Type any button text, such as Shop now, Learn more, Sign up or Book now. Meta only offers buttons from its own list, so pick a label that Ads Manager supports for your objective. If the field is empty, the mockup shows “Learn more”.
What image size works for a Facebook feed ad?
Meta’s Ads Guide lists square 1:1 and portrait 4:5 as common Feed ratios. This mockup crops your image to a wide frame below the text, so use it to judge the copy and overall message rather than exact image cropping.
Is the Facebook ad preview tool free?
Yes. It’s free to use without an account, and the PNG you download has no SocQ logo or watermark. Create a mockup for every copy variation you want to test.
Is my ad creative uploaded to Meta or SocQ?
No. The mockup is drawn in your browser, so your copy and image stay on your device and aren’t sent to SocQ or Meta. Nothing is created in your ad account.

Research public Facebook content with SocQ APIs
SocQ Facebook APIs return public Page, post, Reel and comment data, so you can review how brands in your market write and present content. They don’t access Ads Manager, ad spend or private campaign results.
