How to use this tool

iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, and many Windows apps, websites and social schedulers won’t open them. This HEIC to JPG converter decodes the photos in your browser and saves them as JPG at the quality you choose, up to 20 at a time. It’s made for anyone moving iPhone pictures to a PC, a client or an upload form.

  1. 01

Add your HEIC or HEIF photos

Click Choose files or drag in up to 20 photos from your iPhone, iCloud or AirDrop folder. Each file can be up to 30 MB, and JPG files are accepted too.

  2. 02

    Set the JPG quality

Quality (%) starts at 85. Use 90–100 if you plan to crop or edit the photo again, or a lower value for smaller files to email.

  3. 03

    Check and save

Conversion starts as soon as you add photos. The first run loads the HEIC decoder, then each JPG appears with its size and dimensions. Click Download or Download ZIP.

Why iPhone photos are HEIC

Since iOS 11, the iPhone’s High Efficiency camera setting stores photos as HEIC, which takes less space than JPG at similar quality. • Windows apps, older Android phones and many websites can’t open HEIC • JPG opens almost everywhere, from email to print shops • To shoot JPG from the start, choose Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible on the iPhone

What to expect from the JPG

• Width and height stay the same as the photo • JPG files are usually larger than the HEIC original • Live Photo motion isn’t kept; you get the still image • EXIF data such as capture date, camera model and GPS location isn’t copied • If a HEIC file holds several images, only the first one is converted

Limits and troubleshooting

• Up to 20 files per batch, each up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels • If a photo fails to convert, export it as JPEG from Photos on a Mac instead • Large batches take longer on phones, so convert in smaller groups • Check orientation in the preview before sharing

Frequently asked questions

What is a HEIC to JPG converter?

A HEIC to JPG converter turns Apple’s HEIC or HEIF photo files into JPG, the format most devices and websites read. SocQ’s converter decodes each photo in your browser and saves a JPG at the quality you set, without sending files to a server.

How do I convert HEIC to JPG?

1. Click Choose files and select up to 20 HEIC or HEIF photos. 2. Set Quality (%), or keep the default of 85. 3. Wait a moment for the results to appear. 4. Click Download for one photo or Download ZIP for the batch.

Can I convert several iPhone photos together?

Yes. Select or drag in up to 20 photos at once. Every file uses the same Quality (%) setting, and Download ZIP saves the whole set as one archive.

Does my browser need to support HEIC?

No. The tool loads its own HEIC decoder when a conversion starts, so it doesn’t depend on built-in HEIC support in your browser. The first conversion can take a moment longer while the decoder loads.

Will converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

A little, because JPG uses lossy compression. At 85–95 the difference is hard to see in normal viewing. Use 100 when you plan to edit the photo again, and expect a larger file.

Does the JPG keep the photo’s date and location?

No. The photo is redrawn before it’s saved, so EXIF data such as capture date, camera model and GPS location isn’t included in the JPG. That helps privacy when sharing, but keep the HEIC original if you need that information.

What happens to Live Photos?

A Live Photo is a still image plus a short video clip. This tool converts the still HEIC image to JPG and ignores the motion part, which a JPG file can’t store.

Are my iPhone photos uploaded?

No. Decoding and conversion run in your browser, so your photos stay on your device and aren’t sent to SocQ. Only the decoder code is downloaded to make the conversion work.

Is the HEIC to JPG converter free?

Yes. It’s free without an account, and the JPG files have no watermark. You can convert as many batches of up to 20 photos as you need.

What can I do if a HEIC file won’t convert?

Check that the file is under 30 MB and really ends in .heic or .heif. Some newer or unusual HEIC variants may not decode. In that case, export the photo as JPEG from Photos on a Mac, or switch the iPhone camera to Most Compatible for future shots.
