How to use this tool

Clips recorded from a distance or with a weak phone mic are often hard to hear once posted. This tool multiplies the video’s audio by the percentage you enter, from 0% to 400%, and runs it through a limiter so loud peaks don’t clip. The picture keeps its resolution, and you get a new MP4 to download.

  1. 01

    Choose a video with sound

Click Choose files and pick the clip. It needs an audio track; a silent video shows a message asking for a recording with audio.

  2. 02

    Set the volume

Enter Original volume (%): 100 keeps the current level, 150 raises it by half, 200 doubles it and up to 400 is allowed. Values under 100 make the clip quieter.

  3. 03

    Listen and download

Click Create file, play the result on your phone speaker or headphones, then click Download to save volume.mp4.

When to increase video volume

• Speech recorded far from the phone or camera • Screen recordings with a quiet microphone • Clips that sound much softer than the rest of a series • Lowering a loud clip before mixing it with music

Volume setting explained

• Original volume (%): 0 to 400; 100 leaves the sound unchanged • Above 100 boosts the signal, so 200 doubles it • Below 100 lowers it, and 0 mutes the video • A limiter catches peaks so very loud moments distort less • The same level applies to the whole clip

Tips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts

• Raise the volume in steps, such as 150 and then 200, and listen each time • Check on a phone speaker, which is how most people will hear it • Boosting also raises background noise, so very noisy clips may need noise reduction first • If you’ll add music later, set the voice level here first

Formats and limits

• Input: MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI and other common formats with an audio track, up to 100 MB and 10 minutes • One volume level for the whole clip; no per-section changes or loudness normalization • Output: MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio at the original resolution • Speed depends on your device; the first run downloads the video engine once

Frequently asked questions

What is a video volume booster?

A video volume booster raises the loudness of a video’s soundtrack so speech and music are easier to hear. This tool applies a gain from 0% to 400% to the whole audio track, limits the peaks and exports the video again as an MP4.

How do I increase the volume of a video for free?

1. Click Choose files and pick your video. 2. Enter a value above 100 in Original volume (%). 3. Click Create file. 4. Listen to the result, then click Download.

What does 200% volume mean?

It doubles the audio signal’s amplitude before the limiter, which sounds clearly louder but not twice as loud to most ears. How loud it feels also depends on the recording and the speaker you play it on.

Will boosting the volume cause distortion?

The limiter keeps peaks below full scale, which prevents hard clipping. At very high settings, though, the limiter works constantly and loud parts can sound squashed, so use the lowest value that makes the speech clear.

Can I lower the volume too?

Yes. Enter a value below 100, such as 70 for a slightly quieter clip, or 0 to mute the audio completely while the picture keeps playing as before.

Why do I see a message asking for a recording with an audio track?

The video you chose has no sound to boost, which often happens with screen recordings made without a microphone or clips exported silent. Pick a file that has audio, or add a soundtrack with SocQ’s Add Audio to Video tool.

Is it free, and is there a watermark?

Yes, it’s free and requires no signup. The exported MP4 has no SocQ watermark or logo; the volume is the only thing that changes.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The audio is processed by FFmpeg in your browser, so the video stays on your device and isn’t sent to SocQ. Your browser downloads the video engine on the first run and caches it.

What formats and file sizes are supported?

You can open MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI and other common video files up to 100 MB and 10 minutes, as long as they include sound. The result is an H.264 MP4 with AAC audio.

Can I make a video louder on my iPhone or Android?

Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, choose the clip from your gallery and create the file. Processing happens on the phone, so a long video takes longer than it would on a computer.
