How to use this tool

Apps usually trim normal spaces, so a name or message made only of spaces gets rejected. Invisible characters are real Unicode characters with no visible shape, so apps accept them while showing nothing. Pick a character, choose how many to copy, and paste it into a name, bio, caption or chat. The test box below shows how many invisible characters you actually copied.

  1. 01

    Choose how many

Set Characters per copy. Most blank names need one character; spacing tricks may need several.

  2. 02

    Copy a character

Press Copy next to the character you want. The Hangul filler is the most widely accepted for blank names.

  3. 03

    Paste and test

Paste it into the app, or into the test box on this page first to confirm how many invisible characters you copied.

The invisible characters on this page

• Hangul filler (U+3164): a Korean placeholder that renders as a wide blank. Most apps accept it in names. • Braille blank (U+2800): an empty braille cell, often accepted where Hangul filler isn’t. • Half-width Hangul filler (U+FFA0): a narrower blank. • Zero-width space (U+200B): takes up no width at all, useful for breaking up links or @mentions. • No-break space (U+00A0) and em space (U+2003): visible-width spaces that apps are less likely to trim.

Common uses

• A blank display name in games, WhatsApp or Discord. • Empty lines and spacing in Instagram and TikTok bios and captions. • A message or comment that looks empty. • Stopping an app from turning text into a link or mention. Each app sets its own rules, so the six characters on this page give you several options to try.

Pick the right character

Apps trim leading and trailing spaces and handle blank characters in their own way, so match the character to the job: • Blank names: start with the Hangul filler, then try the braille blank or half-width Hangul filler. • Empty lines and spacing: the Hangul filler or braille blank on its own line. • Breaking up links or @mentions: the zero-width space. You can also pair one invisible character with a visible symbol for a minimal name.

Use invisible text responsibly

Use blank characters for layout and names, and keep words, links and usernames free of hidden characters so search, copy and paste and screen readers work as people expect. Many platforms treat hidden characters inside words as spam.

Frequently asked questions

What is an invisible character?

It’s a Unicode character that takes up space or exists in the text but has no visible shape, such as the Hangul filler (U+3164) or the zero-width space (U+200B).

How do I copy an invisible character?

Press Copy next to a character. Nothing seems to happen because the character is blank, but it is now on your clipboard. Paste it into the test box to check.

Which invisible character works for blank names?

The Hangul filler (ㅤ) works in the most apps. If it’s rejected, try the braille blank or the half-width Hangul filler.

Can I have a blank name on Instagram or TikTok?

Display names usually accept an invisible character. @usernames use letters, numbers, periods and underscores, so keep the blank look for your display name.

Does it work in WhatsApp and Discord?

Yes. Invisible characters work in WhatsApp names, statuses and messages and in Discord nicknames and messages.

How do I add empty lines to an Instagram bio or caption?

Paste an invisible character on its own line. Instagram keeps the line instead of removing it. The line break generator can also add spacing to a whole caption.

What is a zero-width space used for?

It takes up no width, so it can separate characters without a visible gap, for example to stop a word or URL from turning into a link.

How does the test box work?

Paste text into the box and the tool counts blank and zero-width characters in it. Normal spaces and line breaks aren’t counted.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Characters are copied and counted in your browser; nothing is sent to SocQ or saved.

Is the invisible character tool free?

Yes. It’s free with no signup and no limit.
