How to use this tool

Some editors, upload forms and design templates ask for PNG, and every re-save of a JPG costs a little more quality. This JPG to PNG converter redraws your photos as PNG files at the same width and height, up to 20 at a time, without sending them to a server. It suits creators, sellers and marketers who need PNG assets for editing, layering or templates.

  1. 01

    Add your JPG photos

Click Choose files or drag images onto the tool. You can add up to 20 JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF files, each under 30 MB and 40 megapixels.

  2. 02

    Get the PNG automatically

There are no settings to adjust. The PNG appears as soon as you add files. Each image keeps its width and height and is saved as a PNG named after the original, such as photo-png.png.

  3. 03

    Check and download

Each result shows its file name, size in KB and dimensions. Click Download for one file, or Download ZIP when you converted several.

When to convert JPG to PNG

PNG is lossless, so saving it again won’t add new compression artifacts. • Edit a photo several times without extra quality loss on each save • Meet upload forms or apps that only accept PNG • Prepare screenshots, logos or product shots for layering in a design tool • Keep a stable master copy before cropping or annotating

What the conversion changes, and what it doesn’t

• Width and height stay exactly the same • Detail already lost to JPG compression doesn’t come back • The background stays as it is; no areas become transparent • Files usually get larger, because PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression • EXIF details such as camera model and location aren’t copied to the PNG

Limits and supported files

• Up to 20 images per batch • Each file up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels • JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF inputs; iPhone HEIC photos need the HEIC to JPG tool first • Output is always PNG, named after the original file

Frequently asked questions

What is a JPG to PNG converter?

A JPG to PNG converter saves a JPG photo in the PNG format. SocQ’s converter redraws each image in your browser and exports a PNG with the same width and height. You can convert up to 20 files in one batch.

How do I convert JPG to PNG?

1. Click Choose files and select up to 20 JPG images. 2. Wait a moment for the PNG results to appear. 3. Check the size and dimensions under each result. 4. Click Download, or Download ZIP for the whole batch.

Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG is lossless, so it stops further loss from repeated saving, but it can’t restore detail that JPG compression already removed. The PNG looks the same as the JPG you started with.

Will converting a JPG make its background transparent?

No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same solid background. For a cutout, run the photo through SocQ’s Image Background Remover, which exports a PNG with the background taken out.

Why is my PNG larger than the JPG?

JPG throws away some detail to keep files small, while PNG stores every pixel without lossy compression. A photo saved as PNG is therefore often several times larger. If file size matters more than editing, keep the JPG or compress it instead.

Can I convert several JPG files at once?

Yes. Select up to 20 images in one go, or drag them onto the tool. Use the arrow next to a file to move it up and the X to remove it. Once the results appear, Download ZIP saves the whole batch.

What files and sizes are supported?

The file picker accepts JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF. Each image can be up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels, and one batch holds up to 20 files. For iPhone HEIC photos, use the HEIC to JPG converter first.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your device and aren’t sent to SocQ. Clearing the tool or closing the tab discards the results.

Is the JPG to PNG converter free?

Yes. It’s free to use without an account, and the PNG files carry no watermark or SocQ logo. You can run as many batches as you need, up to 20 images at a time.

Does the PNG keep my photo’s EXIF data?

No. The image is redrawn before export, so camera details, capture date and GPS location aren’t copied into the PNG. Keep the original JPG if you need that information for your archive.
