A photo background changer separates the subject of a picture from its surroundings and puts it on a new backdrop. This one uses an AI background-removal model in your browser, then composites the cut-out onto a color or image you choose and exports a PNG.

Yes. Every photo goes through a background-removal model that finds the main subject without any clicks. You can’t paint or refine the mask by hand, so photos with a clear, well-lit subject give the cleanest edges.

No. The model runs in a Web Worker inside your browser and the photo stays on your device. On first use, the browser downloads the model code and files from public hosts (jsDelivr and Hugging Face), but your image isn’t sent with those requests.

The first run has to download the model (about 220 MB) before it can process anything, and the page shows the download progress. This happens only once: after that, the browser reuses the saved files and starts right away. Processing itself runs on your device’s processor, so large photos and older devices take longer.

You can set any solid Background color, such as #ffffff for white. The tool doesn’t crop to passport or ID sizes or check official rules, so confirm the required size and color with the issuing office before you submit the photo.

Yes. Click Choose background image and pick any image your browser can open. It’s stretched to the subject photo’s exact width and height, so choose a background with the same aspect ratio to avoid distortion. One background image is used for every photo in the batch.

Not with this tool. The output is always filled with your background color or background image. If you need a transparent PNG cut-out, use a dedicated background remover.

Yes, it’s free with no signup, and the PNG contains no SocQ watermark. The output keeps the original photo’s width and height.

Subject photos can be JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels each, and you can queue up to 20 at once. Photos are processed one after another; if one takes longer than 10 minutes, the run stops with an error, so try a smaller image.
