How to use this tool

Posting a dozen photos one by one clutters a feed, and many collage apps ask for an account before you can export. This photo collage maker places up to 20 of your images in an even grid, lets you choose the column count, gap and background color, and saves the result as a single 1800 × 1800 PNG. It’s handy for event recaps, product lineups, travel dumps and before-and-after pairs.

  1. 01

    Add and order your photos

Click Choose files and select up to 20 JPG, PNG or WebP images. Use the up arrow beside a file to move it earlier; photos fill the grid left to right, top to bottom.

  2. 02

    Set columns, spacing and background

Enter 1–6 in Columns and the tool adds rows automatically. Spacing accepts 0–100 px, and the Background color shows in the gaps and any empty cells.

  3. 03

Check the preview and download the collage

Check the live preview to see how each photo is cropped in its cell. Then click Download to save the 1800 × 1800 PNG.

How to make a photo collage look balanced

An even grid looks best when every cell is filled and the photos share a similar mood. • Match the photo count to the columns: 4 photos in 2 columns, 9 in 3, 16 in 4 • Keep main subjects near the center, since each photo is cropped to fill its cell • Use a 10–30 px gap for clear separation, or 0 for a seamless mosaic • Pick a background color from your brand palette or from the photos themselves

Collage size, grid and crop rules

Knowing the layout rules helps you predict the result as you adjust the settings. • The canvas is always 1800 × 1800 pixels, a 1:1 square • Columns range from 1 to 6; rows are calculated from the number of photos • Spacing is limited to 0–100 px and also forms the outer border • Each photo is scaled to cover its cell and cropped from the center • You can add up to 20 photos, each up to 30 MB

Where a square collage works well

A 1:1 image fits most feeds without extra cropping. • Instagram and Facebook feed posts or carousel covers • Event and trip recaps for newsletters and group chats • Product lineups for shop pages, pitch decks and client updates

Frequently asked questions

What is a photo collage maker?

A photo collage maker combines several pictures into one image so you can share a whole set at once. SocQ’s version arranges your photos in an even grid with adjustable columns, spacing and background color, then exports a square PNG.

How do I make a photo collage?

1. Click Choose files and select up to 20 photos. 2. Reorder them with the up arrow beside each file. 3. Set Columns, Spacing (px) and Background. 4. Check the live preview, then click Download to save the PNG.

Is this collage maker free with no watermark?

Yes. You can make collages without creating an account, and the downloaded PNG contains only your photos and background color. No logo or watermark is added to the image.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your browser assembles the collage on your own device, so the photos aren’t sent to SocQ’s servers. Clearing the page or closing the tab discards them.

How many photos can I put in one collage?

Up to 20. With 3 columns, 20 photos become seven rows of short, wide cells, so for large sets try 4 or 5 columns. Grids look tidiest when the photo count fills every row.

Can I choose a collage layout or template?

The tool uses one even-grid layout rather than freeform templates. You shape it with the column count: 1 column stacks photos in rows, 2 makes side-by-side pairs, and 3 columns with nine photos gives a classic 3 × 3 grid.

Why are my photos cropped in the collage?

Each photo is scaled to cover its whole cell and trimmed from the center, so nothing gets stretched. Cells change shape with the number of columns and rows, which means a tall portrait can lose its top and bottom in a wide cell. Try another column count or crop the photo first.

What size is the finished collage?

Every collage is exported as an 1800 × 1800 pixel PNG, a 1:1 square. That’s large enough for Instagram and Facebook feed posts, which scale square images down to fit the screen.

How do I make a 3 × 3 photo grid?

1. Upload nine photos in the order you want them read. 2. Enter 3 in Columns. 3. Pick a spacing, such as 20 px, and a background color. 4. Check the live preview and download the square grid.

Can I make a vertical or long collage?

Not with this tool. The canvas is fixed as a 1:1 square, so tall strips for stories or long-image posts aren’t available. A single-column layout stacks photos, but they still share the square canvas, which makes each row short and wide.
