How to use this tool
A strong line gets lost in a long caption, but on its own card it has room to be read. This quote image generator sets your quote in large bold type with a smaller author or brand line underneath, on a solid color or over a darkened photo, and exports a 1080 × 1080 PNG. It’s built for coaches, writers, podcasters and brands sharing tips, testimonials and favorite lines.
- 01
Type the quote and attribution
Enter the main line in Quote and the author, source or brand in Author or attribution. Both lines are optional; the preview appears as soon as you type, add a photo or change a color.
- 02
Pick colors or a background photo
Choose Background and text colors for a plain card, or click Choose files to add one JPG, PNG or WebP photo. Photos fill the square under a dark gradient so light text stays readable.
- 03
Check the preview and download the card
Check the live preview to make sure the quote fits within three lines. Then click Download to save the 1080 × 1080 PNG.
How to make a quote image people actually read
Quote cards work best when the words carry the design. • Keep the quote short; it wraps across up to three lines of large text, and longer text is cut off • Put the author or source in the attribution line, which appears smaller below the quote • Choose strong contrast, such as cream on dark teal or white on navy • Pick a calm photo; busy backgrounds compete with the text even under the dark overlay
Quote card layout, size and text limits
The design is fixed so every card in a series looks consistent. • Canvas: 1080 × 1080 pixels, a square size that suits Instagram and Facebook feeds • Text is left-aligned with generous margins and set in bold Arial • The attribution line also wraps to a maximum of three lines • With a photo, the image fills the square and a dark top-to-bottom gradient sits behind the text • Export format: PNG
Credit quotes and images correctly
Credit matters as much as design. • Attribute each quote to the person who said or wrote it, and double-check famous lines that are often misattributed • Use your own photos or images you’re licensed to use • Ask customers before posting their testimonial with their name
Ideas for quote posts
• Customer reviews and testimonials • Key takeaways from a podcast episode, talk or webinar • Tips, mantras and brand values • Lines from a book or newsletter, with credit
Frequently asked questions
What is a quote image generator?
A quote image generator turns a line of text into a shareable graphic. SocQ’s version places your quote in large bold type with a smaller attribution underneath, on a solid color or your own photo, and exports a square PNG ready for social feeds.
How do I make a quote image?
1. Type the quote in Quote and the author in Author or attribution. 2. Choose the background and text colors. 3. Optionally click Choose files to add a background photo. 4. Check the live preview, then click Download to save the PNG.
Can I add my own background photo?
Yes. Add one JPG, PNG or WebP image and it’s scaled to fill the square, cropped from the center and darkened with a gradient so the text remains legible. Leave the upload empty to use the solid Background color instead.
What size should a quote post be for Instagram?
A 1080 × 1080 pixel square is a reliable choice for Instagram and Facebook feeds, and it’s the size this tool exports. Instagram also supports 4:5 portrait posts, but this generator only creates the square format.
How long can my quote be?
Short quotes work best. The quote wraps to a maximum of three lines in large bold type, which fits roughly one short sentence, and extra words are cut off instead of shrinking. Edit it down or move context into the attribution line.
Can I change the font or text alignment?
No. Every card uses bold Arial, left-aligned, so a series stays consistent. You can change the text color, the background color and the photo. For decorative fonts or centered layouts, a full design editor is a better fit.
Is the quote image generator free?
Yes. It’s free to use without an account, and the PNG you download carries no SocQ logo or watermark. Make as many versions as you need, for example one per quote in a weekly series.
Are my quote and photo kept private?
The card is drawn in your browser, so your text and photo stay on your device and aren’t uploaded to SocQ. Clearing the page or closing the tab removes them.
How do I credit a quote correctly?
Put the person’s full name in the attribution line and add the source, such as a book or talk, if there’s room. Check a reliable source before posting a famous quote, since many popular lines are misattributed online.
Can I make quote images in other languages?
Yes. The fields accept any language your device can display, including Chinese, Spanish and emoji. Spaced languages wrap by word, and long unspaced text such as Chinese wraps by character, so check the preview before you download.
