How to use this tool
A plain gameplay or webcam feed looks unfinished next to channels with a branded frame. This maker creates a 1920 × 1080 PNG with a colored border and a title bar along the bottom, while the middle stays transparent so your stream shows through. Add it to OBS Studio or Streamlabs as an image source on top of your scene.
- 01
Enter the title for the bottom bar
Type your channel name, segment or game in Headline, such as “Late-night builds with Sam”. It appears in cream text on a colored bar along the bottom of the screen.
- 02
Pick an accent color and border width
Choose Accent color for the frame and bar, then set Border (px) between 2 and 120. Around 16–30 px frames the scene without hiding much of the picture.
- 03
Download the PNG and add it to OBS
Check the live preview, which updates as you edit, and download the 1920 × 1080 PNG. In OBS Studio, add an Image source with the file and place it above your game or camera sources.
What this overlay includes
• A full-screen 1920 × 1080 PNG, the standard size for a 1080p stream canvas. • A border around the edge in your accent color, from 2 to 120 pixels thick. • A 130-pixel bar across the bottom in the same color, with your title in bold cream text. • A transparent center, so your gameplay, webcam or desktop shows through. It doesn’t include webcam frames, animated alerts or chat boxes; add those from your streaming software.
How to add the overlay in OBS Studio or Streamlabs
1. In the Sources panel, click + and choose Image. 2. Name it, for example “Frame overlay”, and browse to the PNG. 3. Drag the overlay above your game and camera sources so it sits on top. 4. If your canvas is 1920 × 1080, it fills the screen exactly; for other canvases, right-click > Transform > Fit to screen.
Design tips for a clean stream layout
• Keep the border thin enough that game menus and HUD elements near the edges stay visible. • Use one accent color across your overlay, banner and emotes. • Check that the bottom bar doesn’t cover subtitles or important in-game text; move your game capture up if needed. • Test on a phone-sized preview, since many viewers watch on mobile.
Overlay size for Twitch, YouTube and Kick
Most streams use a 16:9 canvas, either 1920 × 1080 or 1280 × 720. A 1920 × 1080 overlay works on both, because OBS scales it to fit a 720p canvas. Vertical streams use a 9:16 layout, so this horizontal frame isn’t meant for them.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Twitch overlay?
A Twitch overlay is a graphic layered on top of your stream, such as a frame, a title bar or panels for your camera and chat. It’s usually a PNG with a transparent middle. This maker creates a 1920 × 1080 frame with a bottom title bar in your accent color.
What size should a Twitch overlay be?
Make the overlay the same size as your streaming canvas, which is usually 1920 × 1080 for 1080p. This tool exports exactly 1920 × 1080. If you stream at 1280 × 720, OBS can scale the overlay down to fit without changing its look.
Is the overlay background transparent?
Yes. Only the border, the bottom bar and the title are drawn; everything else in the PNG is transparent. When you add it as an image source above your game capture in OBS, the stream shows through the middle.
How do I add an overlay to OBS?
1. Open OBS Studio and select your scene. 2. In Sources, click + and choose Image. 3. Select the downloaded PNG and click OK. 4. Drag the image source to the top of the list so it sits above your game and camera.
Does this overlay work with Streamlabs?
Yes. In Streamlabs Desktop, add an Image source to your scene and pick the PNG, then move it to the top of the source list. Any streaming app that accepts PNG image layers, such as OBS, Streamlabs or Twitch Studio, can use it.
Can I add a webcam frame or chat box?
Not with this tool. It makes a full-screen border with a title bar only. Many streamers add a webcam border with OBS filters or a separate image, and show chat using a browser source from their streaming software.
How thick should the border be?
Between 16 and 30 pixels suits most layouts on a 1080p canvas, because it frames the scene without covering much of the game. You can set anything from 2 to 120 pixels. Try a few sizes and look at the result in your OBS preview.
Can I use this overlay on YouTube or Kick?
Yes. The overlay is just a transparent PNG inside your streaming software, so it works for any platform you stream to, including YouTube Live and Kick. Only the canvas size matters, and 16:9 is the standard for horizontal streams.
Are my settings or files uploaded to SocQ?
No. The overlay is drawn on a canvas in your browser and the PNG downloads directly from the page. Nothing you type is sent to a SocQ server.
Is this Twitch overlay maker free?
Yes. It’s free with no signup, and no watermark is added to the PNG. You can make several versions, for example one per game or show segment.
