How to use this tool
Phone footage often comes out a little dark, gray or washed out. This tool adjusts brightness, contrast and saturation evenly on every frame and exports a new MP4 with the original sound. It’s a quick fix for basic color problems, not a full grading suite with curves or LUTs.
- 01
Open your video
Click Choose files and pick the clip you want to fix, or click Example to load the sample clip with starter values.
- 02
Adjust the three values
Enter Brightness from -1 to 1, Contrast from 0.1 to 3 and Saturation from 0 to 3. Neutral is 0, 1 and 1, so change one value at a time in small steps.
- 03
Create, compare and download
Click Create file and play the result next to your original. Click Download to save color.mp4, or change a value and create it again.
When to color correct a video
• Brighten clips filmed indoors or at dusk • Add punch to flat, grayish footage • Tone down oversaturated colors from a phone’s vivid mode • Bring clips from different shoots closer together • Turn a clip black and white with saturation 0
Settings explained
• Brightness: -1 to 1; 0 is unchanged, and 0.05–0.15 is usually enough • Contrast: 0.1 to 3; 1 is unchanged, and values above 1 deepen shadows and brighten highlights • Saturation: 0 to 3; 1 is unchanged, 0 is black and white, and values above 1 are more colorful • All three apply to the whole clip, from the first frame to the last
Tips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts
• Small changes look more natural on bright phone screens • Check skin tones after raising saturation • Use the same values on every clip in a series for a consistent feed • Preview the export on your phone before posting
Formats and limits
• Input: MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI and other common formats, up to 100 MB and 10 minutes • No white balance, color temperature, hue, curves, LUTs or automatic correction • No live preview; create the file to see the effect • Output: MP4 at the original resolution with the original sound • Speed depends on your device; the first run downloads the video engine once
Frequently asked questions
What is video color correction?
Video color correction means adjusting a clip’s light and color so it looks natural and consistent, for example fixing footage that is too dark or dull. This tool covers three basics, brightness, contrast and saturation, and applies them to every frame before exporting an MP4.
How do I color correct a video online for free?
1. Click Choose files and pick your video. 2. Change Brightness, Contrast and Saturation in small steps. 3. Click Create file. 4. Compare the result with the original, then click Download.
Which values leave the video unchanged?
Brightness 0, contrast 1 and saturation 1 are the neutral settings. Start from these and move one value at a time so you can tell which change improves the picture.
How do I fix a video that is too dark?
Raise Brightness a little, such as 0.1, and set Contrast to around 1.1–1.2 so the brighter image doesn’t turn gray. Large brightness values lift the black areas too, which can make the clip look foggy.
Can I make a video black and white?
Yes. Set Saturation to 0 to remove all color, and raise Contrast slightly, for example to 1.2, if the result looks flat. Brightness can stay at 0 unless the clip is dark.
Can it fix white balance or a yellow or blue tint?
No. The tool only changes brightness, contrast and saturation, so it can’t warm up a blue clip or cool down a yellow one. Lowering saturation can make a tint less noticeable, but a real white balance fix needs an editor with temperature or tint controls.
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
Yes, it’s free and no account is needed. The exported MP4 has no SocQ watermark or logo; only the color changes you set are applied to your footage.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The adjustment runs with FFmpeg inside your browser, so the clip is processed on your device and isn’t sent to SocQ. The video engine downloads once on first use, and how fast the export runs depends on your hardware.
What formats and file sizes are supported?
You can open MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI and other common video files up to 100 MB and 10 minutes long. The result is an H.264 MP4 with AAC audio at the same resolution as the source.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, it runs in current mobile browsers on iPhone and Android. Because the phone does the encoding, a long clip takes noticeably longer than on a computer, so try a short test before processing the full video.
