How to use this tool

To reverse audio, choose a song, voice clip or video with sound, press Create file and play the result: the recording runs from its end back to its start, and you can download it as an MP3. Words come out last syllable first, a cymbal swells instead of fading, and a melody takes on a new shape. Pitch and speed stay the same, and everything happens in your browser.

  1. 01

    Choose the audio

Click Choose files and pick an MP3, WAV, M4A or FLAC file, or a video with sound, up to 100 MB and five minutes long.

  2. 02

    Reverse it

Press Create file. The whole recording is flipped so the last moment plays first.

  3. 03

    Listen and download

Play the backwards version in the player and click Download to save it as an MP3.

What reversing does

Reversing changes only the order of the sound; pitch and speed stay the same, so a three-minute song stays three minutes long. Sharp starts become sudden stops, and fading tails become rising swells. That is why reversed cymbals, piano chords and vocals are popular transitions in music, TikTok and YouTube edits.

Fun and creative uses

• The reverse singing challenge: record a phrase, reverse it, learn to sing the reversed version, then reverse your attempt • Hidden messages: listen for “backmasking” in songs • Sound design: reversed reverb, risers and swooshes for videos • Language games: say your name backwards To reverse just one part, cut it first with the audio trimmer.

Reversing video and slowing it down

This tool saves the reversed sound as an MP3. To reverse the picture too and keep it as a video, use the reverse video tool. To slow a reversed clip down and pick out words, run it through the audio speed changer.
